The Parks Are Quickly Thawing Out

My friend, Steve and my wife went to one of the state parks, Saturday and had a nice time. The temperature, for the first time in over two months, began closing in on 50 degrees (F). It felt so good not to be shivering for once and to be able to travel from our place without driving on ice or snow-covered roads. We joked around and had a wonderful time.

Instead of our park lake in the back of our place being totally encased in ice, everything was melting to the point where you could see the gazebo and the lake.

Don't ask me what this is supposed to be. We found this "snow creature" off to the side of the road inside the state park. My friend thought it resembled a fox. I thought maybe they, whoever they were, were trying to build a elephant that could walk on two legs or a wombat. Whatever it was, they gave it a walking stick, leafs for eyes and a green thing on it's head.

After leaving the park, we enjoyed the rest of the day, telling stories, sharing jokes and listening to Pink Floyd and The Who in the CD player. It seemed the improving weather had improved our spirits. Funny how that is.

Hi Kelly,
Signs of spring....sigh...how lovely. We are thawing, but no sign of the ground yet!

Rebecca of THE SNEE (sounds like a title of royalty)- Yes, I and just about everyone else in the country are welcoming the signs of Spring into their heart.

I think the temperature we're currently have here are probably heading your way, from west to east... so be on the lookout for the ground. :)

Hi Kelly. You should try taking a vacation in Siberia. I hear that it's very nice this time of year!

Ah Kelly great photos and a wonderful story.
Indeed my friend, the impending spring, with all the glorious buds and blossoms, will make your heart sing, with delirious delight. And then the little birdies went 'tweet, tweet..'

bazza- Well, it looks like I won't have to take that vacation in good ol' Siberia, dude. We're supposed to have a big warm up all week long and perhaps beyond that. Thanks for the suggestion, though. lol.

klahanie- Thanks, Gary. Nothing like some real and decent weather to take the burden and woe of the constant ice and snow off your back. From the way it was going, I thought this constant Ice Age we were experiencing wasn't going to let up.

Those little birdies are going tweet, tweet, tweet. :) Take care.

That must be so beautiful in the spring & summer.
So THAT'S where Shat came from.

LilPixi- Yeah, it really is beautiful in the Spring and Summer, for sure. We try to make the trip there about 3 or 4 times a year. Yes, that's where Shat came from. I took pictures of this mystery thing off the side of the road and while doing so, I thought, I could make a story about this thing.

I love the snow-creature. That's awesome! Congrats on what appears to be the end of Winter. It seems like everyone's warming up--FINALLY!

Kelly said...

Lana Gramlich- Yeah, when we first saw the snow creature, we couldn't figure out what he was supposed to look like. I'm glad things are finally starting to warm up around here. I hope it lasts until when Spring officially gets here. Take care.

That is a pretty park! we don't see much snow here in Houston...I would love to see a few sights like this in person!

Kelly said...

THUNDERCAT832- Yeah... It's even prettier during the summer months, too. We have a lot of parks in my area. It's amazing. I think you're sort of lucky not to see much snow where you're at. We see too much of it here in Indiana. I'd move but I have to take care of Dad.

Take care.
